Product Description
A unique bridge between map and globe, this fun learning aid shows how all the parts of the world relate to one another. This colorful and sturdy Earth and Sky globe allows viewers to "stand" inside the world at either the North or South Poles, and look up at the Northern and Southern Constellations - or down at the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. View just the sky, just the globe, or both at the same time! This combination of globe and celestial sky projection is a fantastic and innovative visual aid for geography and astronomy. Flip the Kdron Universe one way to instantly view side-by-side geographic sites located at opposite sides of traditional round globes. Flip the Kdron Universe the othe way and see the constellations laid out. The unique layout allows you to see the relationship between the earth and the night sky. Combines projections of hemispheres and skydomes in polar and lateral configurations.Assembles for "storage" as a 3.25" cube. K-DRON Universe uses two K-DRON solids, each with a unique, flipping segment to alternate between earth and sky views. Some interesting information about the Kdron shape: In 1985 Polish artist and mathematician Janusz Kapusta discovered a new geometrical shape - an eleven faced polyhedron, which he called the K-dron.K-dron's name is derived from the letter "K",which represents the 11th letter of the alphabet, and "dron" from the greek word "hedron", which means surface. K-DRON is both a remarkably simple and complex structure. Its basic form has a square base, 11 multifaceted sides and a diamond-shaped face with a 45 degree angle of inclination.
