Features: -Waldseemuller style globe -Victorian-style base -12" diameter -Dimensions: 37 H x 12 W x 15.3 D Rene Robert de Lasalle was a French explorer who sailed to Canada at the age of 23, and learned from the Iroquois people of a great river which led to the sea. Thinking the river flowed into the Gulf of California, and a possible western trade route to China, Lasalle led a group that explored the Great Lakes in 1679 1680. In 1682 he sailed down the Illinois River to the Mississippi River and all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.
